Ok… I love it when a plan comes together. Well this time our trip to Austin wasn’t exactly planned, but boy did it all come together wonderfully. It all started we found out that The Step Stool Chef is being featured in SideChef, a step by step cooking app that was named “Best Apps of 2014” by USA Today. Yep, that’s right… you can now see our recipes with our signature step-by-step pictures in an app! We’re excited to partner with SideChef and super excited when we found out that the whole staff was going to Austin for South By Southwest during Spring Break. Nothing says “Impromptu Road Trip” like Spring Break and SXSW so we traveled down to meet our friends at SideChef and had the greatest time.
We also had a chance to check out the local attractions. We visited what is now my favorite children’s museum of all time, The Thinkery. They had the best exhibits like a Light Lab, Kitchen Lab and something called Currents. Currents has several hands-on activity stations that allows kids to discover the relationship between water and sound. Things got really wet but they provide smocs and Crocs for all the kids. Super fun!
But the highlight of the whole trip was spending time with our friends at Side Chef. We met the founder, Kevin Yu (not in the Cookie Monster costume) and his team. Everyone was super friendly and we can wait to find more ways to partner with them.
My little chef couldn’t believe it when he was invited to join the SideChef team to pass out cookies with Cookie Monster to people in Downtown Austin. I’m not sure what he loved more: being chased in the streets of Austin by Cookie Monster or being asked to have his picture taken. Either way he had a blast!
